Nikon D5100 Size Comparison

Nikon D5100 size comparison with D7000, D3100 and Coolpix P500. Had the opportunity to hold and play with the D5100 at the Ace Photo (Ashburn, VA) customer day. Awesome little camera -- certainly lighter than the D5000 and virtually the same size and weight as the D3100 while packing the same sensor as the D7000. Even compared to the Coolpix P500, the D5100 is not that big and will make an excellent backup body and everyday/street/candid photography SLR. On another note, had a quick chat with Derek, the Nikon Rep, about the earthquake aftermath. The company is holding up quite well and will continue to make product announcements however as the press releases have noted, production is and will remain affected at the Sendai plant for the foreseeable future.
